He faced tremendous racial prejudice as he broke the color barrier in the Marines to become their first black aviator. He flew 350 combat missions and raised in the ranks to become a base commander.
I'm driving around too much on this adventure in my birthplace to get a chance to write. I am having a brief moment to gather my thoughts because it's raining cats and dogs. I didn't get to write to you yesterday because I was too busy driving from Griffin, IN to Richmond. I got a chance to see I-69. You'll remember that's the road that Mike P. hoped to build through a P3 partnership with Isolux Corsun. It's not finished and there's still a stretch that has a couple of stop lights and cross traffic. Just a reminder that making a profit on building infrastructure projects requires some magic that few companies can conjure up. Isolux Corsun was not up to the task.
Have you ever thought about a world without men? My dad used to say that women did not need men and as soon as they figured out how to reproduce without them, they’d kill off all the men so they could live in peace. According to a story in the NYT today, some termites in Japan are doing just that - reproducing without males and doing just fine.
What's it like to spend $850 billion in one fell swoop? I didn't have time to read the whole thing. I got stopped on Section 8041 that said, "Prohibits funds provided by this bill from being used for assistance to North Korea unless the funds are specifically appropriated for that purpose."

I know you prefer to simplify problems and whittle them down to an us against them situation. You did that last year at your UN speech when you vilified Kim Jung Un, calling him "Rocket Man." Do you think Josh Hawley has a chance? I think he may be a bit young. According to Politico, his efforts in the Senate race have been "lackadaisical." He's turning down all kinds of opportunities to share his message so much so that St. Louis conservative-talk show, host, Mark Reardon, is "pissed" and "frustrated."
Campus is always exciting in late Sept. Freshmen wander around campus trying to look cool. New riders weave in and out of the bike traffic, occasionally losing their balance and colliding with others. Hormones run high as 20-year olds hunt for new mates. The anticipation of starting new classes with the rush of novel ideas and cutting-edge methods captivates the students and invigorates their instructors.
The fact that almost everyone at the table was a Republican made things easy for you. The only Democrat in sight was NC Governor Roy Cooper. Did he mention his opposition to off-shore drilling or remind you that he had to pull NC National Guard folk off of border patrol so they wouldn't have to separate kids from their parents?
