My Dear Friend and President, DJT,

Are you happy with the Appropriations Bill that you are signing today? What's it like to spend $850 billion in one fell swoop?  I didn't have time to read the whole thing. I got stopped on Section 8041 that said, "Prohibits funds provided by this bill from being used for assistance to North Korea unless the funds are specifically appropriated for that purpose."  Does that make sense to you? Are we assisting North Korea or not?

I hope you enjoy your visit with Sebastian Pinera. It looks like he has all kinds of ideas for "fixing" Chile including an austerity policy. I wonder what that means. I'm sure you are thrilled that the US has a trade surplus with Chile. Perhaps Sebastian can help you understand why he thinks it strange that the US is becoming protectionist while China is heading in the opposite direction. They sell more wine to China than they do to the US, so their dependency on us is diminishing. According to the WP, China is practicing a "patient capital approach" in Chile and other Latin American countries. What's our approach?

I'm disappointed that you never invited Sebastian's predecessor, Michelle Bachelet, to the WH. I like to think that it's because she was a socialist rather than it's because she's a woman. Perhaps you saw her while you were in NYC this week and congratulated her on her new appointment to UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Speaking of human rights, I hope the bill you are signing today has plenty of $$ to go to helping suffering people around the globe. Investing in diplomacy pays off!

I will give my regards to your supporters in Indiana during my visit there for the next week.

Best,

RCA
