“Environmental protection is a sacred obligation.” How wonderful that you said those words yesterday! While you may not have uttered “climate change,” it’s a start….
Since I can’t party today, I read up about the origins of this federal holiday. Fascinating! Back in 1894 folks were suffering. The economy was in a nosedive so George Pullman (GMP), whose company made fancy railroad cars, cut his workers’ wages by 30%. …Their strike halted rail traffic in 27 states. Things came to a head in May 1886 when 30 protestors were killed by the National Guard in riots in Chicago. Sound familiar?
…So instead of addressing our physical health, you can address our mental health by changing your “Law & Order” message, to “Love & Elevate”. … (and) shining a light on the resilience & reconciliation going on in Kenosha right now. …You could put down your putter, call pastor Darnell Scott, to help lead the Nation in song.
…I am not sure if I should vote once or twice. I think you suggested that I mail-in a ballot & then go to the polls, also. I believe your logic is that my mail-in ballot might not count, so I should vote in person as an insurance policy. The part about this that confuses me, is that if I plan to go to the polls in person, why would I bother with the mail-in ballot?…
…I’m afraid folks on your team made another mistake when they told you that John Rode III (JR3) owned the camera store that was destroyed in the fire in Kenosha. …He sold the store to Tom Gram(TG) 8 years ago & TG didn’t want to talk with you because he didn’t want to be part of your circus. Please encourage your people to be careful when setting up photo ops….
…We are suffering out here. Please stop encouraging those impulsive teenagers to “protect” property. They are not suited to the job. You might instead call on the Raging Grannies to put on their masks & sing their way to reconciliation. That might be just the surprise that our nation needs.

The only part of the RNC I saw last night was Melania’s speech. I liked her emphasis on learning – she said, “learn about the past…we have so much to learn from one another,” & “let us reflect on our mistakes.” Even better was her acknowledgement that “we ae not proud of parts of our history.” I did experience some cognitive dissonance when I saw that Melania was talking about uniting the country while wearing a military-ish outfit….
I just watched SC Senator Tim Scott’s (TES) speech from last night’s convention. I was pleasantly surprised. … He might have gone a bit overboard claiming that the Dems want a “cultural revolution” & “socialist utopia,” but I had to agree with several of the columnists and contributors to the NYT, that his speech was a good one.
