My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
While you are golfing today, I will be going to a Love as Action event at McKinley Park in Sacto where I will stand together in silence with fellow Quakers to affirm that every person has worth, that fear & violence must give way to love & fairness, & that our communities thrive when all are welcomed. We may make an art installation. If I get arrested, I hope you will pardon me as you know my intentions are positive.
Why do you like golf so much? Is it the thrill you get when your driver hits the ball in the perfect spot at the optimal speed & it goes right where you want it? Or do you get satisfaction from psyching out your opponent? Or do you enjoy the fresh air & sunshine? Or is it the male bonding you get from shooting the breeze?
Maybe you play so much to advertise your business. According to Aa, “golf clubs are very much a core profit center for the Trump family, not just a hobby.” Is the DC club making a profit?
SoW, I took a look at photos of it & wondered what’s up with that weird waterfall thing on the 18th hole. Were you happy with the way that turned out? It looks artificial to me, but golf courses often do look totally out of place to me.
I prefer a natural landscape with trees, bushes, etc. growing where Mother Nature planted them. Even my vegetable garden has a rather wild look. I love the sunflowers, amaranth & hollyhocks that pop up there & manage to thrive without irrigation. Their vigor impresses me.
Even though golf is not my favorite sport, I’m glad you will get outside today & will get some exercise swinging your clubs & getting in & out of the cart.
If you have a spare minute, please take a look at the NYT coverage of Hannah Beech’s trip to Burma. She is trying to shine a light on the plight of the citizens fighting for democracy. She calls the situation in the Anyar region, an “apocalypse.” She wants the people there to know they have not been forgotten, so when you get the chance, please say something about your concern for their welfare.
BYBS,
