My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
Thanks for hosting farmers at the Rose Garden yesterday. We have such a strong agricultural system. that we tend to forget that people plant, grow & harvest the food on our tables. They deserve more credit so recognizing them at the WH was a good thing!
I looked at the transcript of your remarks & was surprised that you did not explicitly mention the Agricultural Act of 2026 which the Senate is working on & instead bragged about the white marble used as the paving for the garden.
Thanks for sending earthquake relief help to Venezuela. I’m sure you’ve heard their “earthquake doublet” is extremely rare. According to India Today, “seismologists classify such events as a doublet because both quakes released enormous amounts of energy independently rather than one simply being an aftershock of the other.” Geologists expect “around 26 aftershocks of magnitude 4 or greater, with an 89% probability of at least one reaching magnitude 5 or higher,” making it dangerous for the rescue workers. Let’s hold them in the Light!
OoM, did you know that today is not only the UN’s International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, it is also Youm-e-Ashur? I learned about both of these commemorations this AM & as usual, I marvel at how little I know of the world & at how complicated human affairs tend to be.
I encountered the UN’s Drug Day upon clicking on the headline, “Burmese authorities torch $600 million in seized heroin, meth & other drugs” which featured a striking explosion & subsequent conflagration of carefully arranged packages on top of signs saying “Methamphetamine” & “Stimulant.” The article accompanying the video explained that the junta arranged drug burning demonstrations all over the country as part of their Drug Day program.
At first I was relieved to see the junta doing something positive for a change, but upon inquiring further into UN Drug Day, I found a post by Amnesty International describing their “Don’t Punish Global Day of Action” which “condemn(s) the use of the death penalty for drug-related offences.” They caution against “the perpetuation of human rights violations in the name of drug control.” That’s the kind thing MAH does all the time, so don’t be fooled by his propaganda that he’s benevolent.
Please be mindful that tyrannical leaders can assign the label “drug dealer” to political activists they’d like to get rid of & do all in your power to discourage this practice!
If I had more time I’d riff on Youm-e-Ashur, but since I need to close this, I will just tell you that everyone in Pakistan is taking the day off to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) in the Karbala Battle of 680. How do I not know about this? I have so much to learn!!!
Go in Peace,
BYBS,
