My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
How are things in France? I understand that you got a couple of belated birthday gifts that you didn’t seem too interested in. If that’s the case, please send them to me so I can give them to my husband for his 67th birthday next week.
He would be most excited about the personalized Look bike that EJMFM gave you, but I’d love to see you ride it around DC before you send it to CA. Beware, it could be uncomfortable. In my experience the stiffness of a racing bike makes it quite unforgiving. Every bump in the road makes your teeth chatter & if you aren’t going fast enough, you feel like you’ll tip over at any moment. To be on the safe side, you might be better of on a trike.
If you can’t bear to part with the bike, the World Cup soccer jersey that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz gave you with the #47 on it would also be most welcome for the birthday boy.
Onto more serious matters. Are your G7 colleagues as skeptical of your Iran deal as the media in the USA? I ask because the headlines today included words such as “vague,” “mystery” & “uncertain.” They also contained phrases such as “risks loom”, “deal inches forward” & “questions linger.” My local paper, the Sac Bee, was the only one that did not include a qualifier & just said, “US, Iran reach agreement to end war, signing set for Friday.” I hope whatever the deal may entail, that the violence ends. WINTA!
SoW, it seems VOZ is hopeful that the assault on his country could end soon. The AP reported that he’s busy talking to you & others at the G7. Please do whatever you can to stop the fighting in that corner of the world, too.
Please also do whatever you can to support the Muslims of Burma in getting their mosques rebuilt. According to the Irrawaddy, “there used to be 65 mosques (in Mandalay), but over 50 collapsed in the earthquake (March 28, 2025), with 33 completely demolished & requiring full reconstruction.” To rebuild, the imams have to get approval from 16 different government offices & none of them are being responsive. We all deserve safe places to come together to contemplate our beliefs & commitments, don’t you think?
I hope you aren’t too tired to enjoy the moment of being in such a beautiful place with such an influential crowd. Don’t worry about tomorrow, or the polls or the stock market or the green algae in the reflecting pool. Just embrace the present.
BYBS,
