My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,

You are about to give some remarks at the Coast Guard Academy graduation. I hope you will mention the names of the three men who lost their lives intervening with the shooters at the Islamic Center in San Diego. Amin Abdullah, in particular, deserves to be honored for putting himself into the line of fire to protect the children at the Center. 

It would be even better if you made a strong statement against white-supremacy & hate speech against Muslims. According to what I heard on NPR about the manifesto that the killers wrote they were inspired by the tragedy in Christchurch, New Zealand, in 2019, where 51 people were murdered at two mosques. 

Your followers need your guidance to stop saying Islamic phobic things. I encourage you to have private conversations with Laura Loomer, Rep. Randy Fine & Rep. Brandon Gill, to just name a few, to express your disapproval of their rhetoric. You need to make it clear that blanket statements such as "people who attend this mosque want us all to be killed” are odious. These folks will listen to you so help them understand that our country was founded on religious freedom, & we value all of our brethren.

On happier matters, please pass on my congratulations to Melania for her role in getting the House to pass the Fostering the Future Act. As I read the bill, I noticed its emphasis on the importance of relationships for foster youth, especially with peers. Perhaps you could encourage Barron to befriend some foster youth & invite them to the WH. That might help people change their stereotypes about kids in the “system.”

Finally, please ask the State Department to investigate the plight of U Kay Thara. He’s the abbot of a monastery in Mogaung Township in northern Kachin State, Burma, who is reported to be in military custody & is being physically abused, because he refused to allow his monastery to be used by a militia group allied with the junta.
