My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
Have you had a good belly laugh today? Do you have someone on your staff who helps lighten the mood by saying funny things? Back in the day Kings had “court jesters.” Since you aren’t a king, probably best to call your silly person, “a comedian.” Having one in the WH would not only cut the tension, it would be good for your long term physical health.
At least that’s what the Mayo Clinic says. They note laughing can improve your immune system, relieve pain & increase personal satisfaction. Certainly worth a try.
I suggest you employ Josh Johnson in this capacity. AI explains that he uses a story-telling approach & characterizes him as “ a "slow burn comic who prioritizes building momentum & letting narratives breathe over delivering rapid-fire punchlines.” He might be just the jolt of fresh air your admin needs to make the changes that will help you to become more appealing to the American public.
SoW, thanks for spending some time talking about affordable health care today. Doing so shows you are tuning into the pocketbooks of America. My quick study of the topic today revealed that tech advances have been driving cost increases. Every time they come up with a fancy new gizmo, doctors try to use it make it to make it pay for itself so we end up with incentivizing volume over value. I also learned that family physicians think we need more preventative medicine.
Health care is like schools & prisons. No one should profit from providing these services. So isn’t it time for a single payer system? That’s what several of the candidates for to become CA’s next governor are campaigning for. What does RFK Jr think about how best to pay for our health care?
OoM, once again I encourage you to pay attention to what’s going on in Burma. The Irrawaddy reports on the ways in which China is quietly exerting its influence there as the rest of the world obsesses over the Strait of Hormuz. Today’s article, “Sinicization of Myanmar’s Borderlands Spreads as MNDAA Erases Ta’ang Identity” is worth a read. In case you are like me & are not familiar with that first word, it refers to the tendency of Han Chinese to dominate those they conquer by removing non-Chinese cultural references & forcing everyone to use their language. This is happening in the Northern region of Burma where the entrance signs for over a dozen villages no longer include the name of the town in the Ta’ang language.
Some call this kind of cultural erasure, “culturicide,” & identify it as a component of genocide. We attempted it by sending Indigenous children to boarding school. While such approaches succeed in causing trauma, they do not succeed in eliminating cultural pride. If anything, it enhances cultural allegiances. VVP has found that to be true among Ukrainians. You are finding it among Iranians. Wiping out a culture is not only cruel, it’s impossible.
As I told you recently, rather than trying to eliminate the Muslim population, I encourage you to learn more about Cyrus, the Great, so you can develop better strategies for getting along with the people of Persia.
BYBS,
RCA
