My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
What are you becoming? What am I becoming?
Martha Beck(MB) suggests that these questions can help us get into the flow rather than resisting change. She writes that everything eventually dissolves so we should “Let the resistance to dissolving be another thing that dissolves.”
MB reminds us to have joyful fascination for what the future might bring & recognize that we have to let go in order to move forward. Perhaps adopting this perspective would help you get beyond your desire to MAGA, with its emphasis on going back in time & might help you rethink your approach to immigration. We can stop wasting our $$ paying ICE folks to run around intimidating people & instead hire refugees to care for our elderly & children. Investing in love rather than fomenting fear would make the world a much better place!!!
As you revamp your immigration policy, I encourage you to reinstate Temporary Protected Status for all of the refugees in the US, including those from Burma. According to U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes, who granted a request to pause the termination of Temporary Protected Status for Haitians while a lawsuit challenging it proceeds, it is "substantially likely" that Kristi Noem preordained her termination decision because of "hostility to nonwhite immigrants.” You don’t want to continue to give that impression, do you?
OoM, I was surprised to see Melania’s name on the POTUS schedule today. As I hope you know, she’s going to meet former Gaza hostage, Keith Seigel in the Blue Room. An announcement about the event suggests she might have had something to do with his release. Do you know about that?
Finally, the only paper that included a front page article about your meeting yesterday with Colombia Pres. Gustavo Petro yesterday was El Nuevo Herald, the paper for the Cuban refugees living in South Florida. It reported that the meeting happened behind closed doors, but didn’t say much else. The G mentioned it was cordial. I’m glad you two got along.
BYBS,
