My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
It’s too bad that you were too busy to greet the Walk for Peace monks yesterday when they ended their 2300 mile walk across 9 states. People flew from places like Utah to witness their trek & said it was a blessing to be in their presence.
It’s not too late to invite the Venerable Bhikkhu Pannakara (BP) to visit you at the WH. He could guide you in a meditation before your meeting with Bibi today. Hearing BP talk about cultivating a calm mind might reinvigorate your commitment to being a peace maker so when you talk with Bibi today he doesn’t convince you to wage war on Iran.
If BP gets a chance to visit you, he might bring up the 4 Noble Truths & remind you that the cause of suffering is desire, attachment, & craving. Easy to say & agree to, but hard to live by.
You could start your path to enlightenment by letting go of something -
Perhaps you could detach from the idea of promoting coal & call off your Champion of Coal event today. Most Americans know that depending on coal is a road to ruin. They won’t be charmed by Coalie, that creepy cartoon character that your folks have resurrected. The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation & Enforcement exists to minimize environmental impacts not to advertise.
Buddists consider ignorance to be one of the 3 poisons that lead to suffering, so please stop spreading the misinformation that coal is benign.
Lest you interpret this letter as a sales pitch for Buddhism, I must remind you that one of the many problems in Burma is that a a doctrine of Bamar supremacy among the generals has interfered with the country achieving the “unity in diversity” envisioned when the Panglong Agreement was signed on Feb 12, 1947. More on that tomorrow.
BYBS,
