My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
You’ll be happy to know that the Presidential Schedule is back on line & I can see that yesterday you introduced the Trump Account. I love the idea of distributing $$ to every new born! I wish you had heeded the suggestions of Stanford economists Neale Mahoney & Adam Shaw who advocated you adopt Senator Cory Booker’s “Baby Bonds” plan which “would also give every child a $1,000 deposit at birth, but would add up to $2,000 a year in federal contributions, with the largest amounts going to the families with the least.” In the absence of that your plan exacerbates the wealth inequality plaguing our nation because “benefits will flow overwhelmingly to families with the means to contribute thousands of dollars a year.”
OoM, can you recite the list of all our POTUSes? I’m working on it as a mental exercise done in lieu of counting sheep to put myself to sleep. I’m up to #21, Chester Arthur (CAA). Among the exciting info I encountered in my effort to learn something about him is that according to Scott Greenberger he was “a crooked machine politician” who did “a heel-face turn” when he became POTUS. Better yet, “a mysterious young woman deserves much of the credit for Arthur's remarkable transformation. Julia Sand (JS), a bedridden New Yorker, wrote Arthur nearly two dozen letters urging him to put country over party, to find "the spark of true nobility" that lay within him.” Sound familiar?
I look forward to learning more about CAA through JA’s letters & will keep you apprized of useful info. My suggestion of the day relates to the Pendleton Act, signed into law by CAA in 1883. It “was the first major civil service reform act, requiring that all federal positions be chosen by merit, & prohibiting the collection of mandatory donations" from federal employees by political parties.” You could use this act to justify why Kristi Noem had to step away from her job in your cabinet.
CAA’s reform efforts could be informative to MAH as he develops his government in Burma so I hope you’ll ponder the benefits of having professionals do the work of establishing Justice, insuring domestic Tranquility, providing for the common defense, promoting the general Welfare, & securing the Blessings of Liberty.
BYBS,
