My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
My husband’s wheelchair started to squeak yesterday. The high-pitched sound comes & goes, but I am jolted every time it screeches. The adage about greasing the squeaky wheel has a whole new meaning for me.
Now that you have signed your BBB, what wheel is screeching at you?
Perhaps it’s Rev William Barber’s moral movement & his efforts to revive the Poor People’s campaign. The G says he’s making noise about the BBB saying that “injustice has written itself into the budget lines, & silence is not an option when lives hang in the balance of a ledger.” He asks us, “What will you do with the breath you have left?” & says he doesn’t expect to win, just to witness. His points resonate with me, so I hope you attend to his concerns.
The biggest news of the day is the flooding of Camp Mystic in TX where the Guadalupe River rose 22 feet in about two hours. Beyond comforting the families of the 25 missing girls, I’m not sure what else you can do. Perhaps, a commitment to do something about climate change would bring some solace to the nation.
Did you see that the junta announced it has released some child soldiers? According to Reuters, “in a rare admission published in its mouthpiece newspaper, the junta said it conducted a verification process last year that resulted in the discharge of 93 verified minors, who were also provided with financial assistance.” The Hindustan Times also covered this story & said the junta was responding to a UN report which claimed the junta had “recruited “467 boys & 15 girls, including over 370 children used in combat roles.” I encourage you to make some noise about this situation so that it gets the attention that it requires.
To drown out the squeaky wheels that might be grating on you, consider listening to Ode to Joy, as I did this AM. According Maria Papova, in this symphony Beethoven gave us “an unassailable insistence that although the Napoleons & Putins of the world will rise to power again & again over the centuries, they will also fall, because there is something in us more powerful as long as we continue placing freedom, justice, & universal happiness at the center of our commitment to life, even as we live through nightmares.”
Don’t let them steal your joy!
BYBS,
RCA
