My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,

I have been away from my computers for the 3 days to travel to NYC where I participated in the celebration of my niece’s wedding. The trip instructed me in many ways. Enumerating them is beyond the scope of this letter so I will touch on two.

1) The principles of democracy are deeply embedded in our nation. So much so that uprooting them will take generations. The displays in the museum at the Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island celebrating immigration & freedom of movement convinced me that our messages will not be dismantled quickly. You can take down websites, but you aren’t taking down Lady Liberty anytime soon. Besides, she’s a great brand! Don’t you think?

2) Quakers are my people. As I shared in a message at the 15th Street Friends Meeting yesterday, when I entered their space, my heart was full. I knew I could open my soul there, speak my truth & be heard. What a gift!

Enough about me.

What are you up to today? The only thing on your calendar is a lunch with JDV. What’s he up to lately? Is he relieved that ERM is stepping away from his WH activities?

Speaking of ERM, did you see the article about his drug use in the NYT yesterday? Given your commitment to sobriety, I’m surprised you have affiliated so closely with a guy so heavily dependent on substances. I’m afraid that he might be going the way of Levitt, losing his momentum & concentration.

SoW, have you heard of the Athletic Mental Energy scale, used to assess whether someone has what it takes to win? Of its 6 factors, you have 4 – vigor, confidence, motivation & tirelessness. The two that you could work on are concentration & calm. Maybe you have those on the golf course, but I don’t see them in other aspects of your life. My weakness is motivation. My excitement for a project can fizzle before I complete it. Perhaps that means I need to work on concentration, too.

Regarding Burma, what did you think of the NYT’s assertions that “Under Pressure from China, Myanmar Rebels Cede Hard-Won Territory.” It’s been heart breaking for supporters of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army to see this happen. Please consult with your people to see what we can do to uplift the spirits of the citizens there who have suffered so much this year with the earthquake coming on top of the brutal air attacks of the junta. And remember, WINTA!!
