My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
A traffic jam interfered with our plans yesterday. We were bumper to bumper on the 50 & never got out of West Sac. We finally drove the wrong way up the on ramp to get out of the mess & go home. As we sat idling for an hour we watched, as every five minutes or so, a car would break out of line, defying all ordinances, to drive across the grass or back up in the break down lane & then several cars would follow. Clearly, rule breaking is contagious. Once the bold individual decides to ignore the law, many others do the same.
Please keep that in mind!
On this Mother’s Day, my heart goes out to all the mothers in the world who can’t feed their children. The situation in Gaza particularly bad. The CSM reports, “It has now been more than two months since Israel halted all humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip, sharply escalating an already-devastating hunger crisis. Nine in every 10 residents of Gaza do not have enough to eat, & nearly 20% are facing famine conditions.” Mothers are telling their children not to play, lest they run out of energy. Appalling!
Likewise, mothers in Burma face a similar crisis, especially in the areas hardest hit by the earthquake. Please, work your magic with Bibi & MAL & get them to have some compassion for these families.
Given the wrenching poverty around the world, I urge you to reconsider accepting the gift of the “palace in the sky” that Qatar wants to give you. It’s just over the top.
Finally, please be kind to the Quakers who are marching from Flushing to DC to remind America about the Flushing Remonstrance of 1657, when the Dutch settlers used these words to persuade Director-General Pieter Stuyvesant not to exclude Quakers, AKA “seducers of the people”:
any …said persons come in love unto us, we cannot in conscience lay violent hands upon them, but give them free egresse and regresse unto our Town, & houses, as God shall persuade our consciences, for we are bounde by the law of God & man to doe good unto all men & evil to noe man.
You may disagree with my Friends about immigration, but please accord them the respect & generosity that you accord to your friends.
BYBS,
RCA
