My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT, 

I’m making this quick because I am staying with friends in Reno & we are eager to start hiking on this gorgeous day!  

As we tromp up the mountain, we will reflect on vets we know & lift them up to acknowledge the toll of service in the military. I have two friends who are vets. The one who fought in the Vietnam War speaks of his time in the Navy as an adventure. He had a clerical job on a ship so did not have firsthand experience with combat. The other friend was a mechanic who served in the ‘80s & ‘90s. Technically, she is not a “vet” because she got a dishonorable discharge for being gay when that was not allowed. She endured several sexual assaults which left her with PTSD.  She has had to fight for the benefits she deserves. I encourage you to do something about this injustice. 

In case you weren’t aware, a boat carrying 70 Rohingya refugees fleeing Burma capsized near the resort island of Langkawi in Malayasia. Seven people are known to be dead & many more are missing. This highlights how desperate the people are. Please attend to this matter.
