My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
I am soaking in the sounds of this lush landscape. Tweets, chirps, whistles combine with the pitter-patter of water dropping from leaves for a soothing symphony.
How are you getting your soul soothed these days?
If we could all learn to calm ourselves, we might feel more secure. If everyone had peace of mind, we might rely less on the threat of violence in human relations.
You will need all the inner peace you can get to resist the pressure you are going to get from the military-industrial complex gathered at the Army War College today. I implore you to keep in mind that WINTA when you observe 250 defense companies "speed dating" with Pentagon officials. Keep in mind what Ike said about the dangers of profiting from war.
Don’t be swayed by the job production claims the defense CEOs make. According to Brown’s Cost of War project, “clean energy produces 24–64% more jobs than military spending, infrastructure produces 55% more, healthcare produces 84% more, & education produces about 172% more jobs per dollar.”
While you are meeting with the top brass, please ask them about the claim in Homeland Security Today regarding Burma. They say that “neutralizing Beijing’s predatory dominance over Myanmar is a geopolitical imperative that requires a coordinated, multinational containment strategy” & argue that “International actors should favour conditional engagement focused on cross-border humanitarian aid & alternative trade corridors to dilute China’s leverage.”
Bottom line, if we want access to Burmese rare earth minerals, we need to do more to support democracy there.
BYBS.
