My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,

It’s too bad that it’s going to be rainy for the festivities in South Dakota today.  SoW, Let me help you with something. You need to let go of your ambition to be carved into Mount Rushmore. 

I can think of so many reasons it’s a bad idea, but I’ll just share a couple. 

First, the thing shouldn’t be there in the first place. According to the 1868 Fort Laramie Treaty with the Lakota Sioux, the mountain that Gutzon Borglum blasted into did not belong to him. Moreover, the Lakota Sioux consider it sacred land. You do not want to desecrate the mountain more than it already has been by squeezing in your face next to Lincoln’s.

Second, you would draw even more attention to the criticism that so many people have of you, which is you are more interested in developing your brand than in helping the citizens of the USA. Rather than putting your image & name everywhere, you need to work on accomplishing something equivalent to leading a revolution, writing the Declaration of Independence, keeping the Union together, & starting the National Park Service. Your effort to exclude immigrants & EFO have not been successful enough to put you in the same league as POTUSs #1, #3, #16 & #26.

As you ponder a new orientation to monuments, you might discuss the issue with MAH. He has chosen to sponsor the erection of religious monuments, the most prominent being the The Maravijaya Buddha that was consecrated in 2023. It’s 81-feet tall made of Sagyin marble. Quite the colossus!

OoM, my letters will be sporadic for the next couple of weeks as I will be traveling in Vermont. First stop is Craftsbury where Wifi may be spotty because it’s so remote. SoW, please look into the implementation of the BEAD program to ensure that everyone has access to the internet!
