My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
As I have told you, my latest DABBLE, is AI. I put DABBLE in all caps, because this exploration began in Meeting for Worship & could grow into some kind of leading. For now, I am attempting to be mindful of how & when I use AI which Brave’s app defines as computer programs that “simulate cognitive functions like understanding language, recognizing patterns, & adapting to new information without being explicitly programmed for every scenario.”
Today I utilized Claude to explore the question, “How many Americans would be affected if coffee imports from Brazil stopped?“ It responded “this is a fun question to think through.” I had to remind myself that the bot doesn’t have “fun” & this sentence was included to affect my emotions.
In my efforts to “master” AI, I am going to employ various AI tools & resist attempts by the designers of these tools to manipulate me by giving them human names. I intend to figure out the differences between various AI apps. Moving forward in my letters to you I will no longer refer to programs with the general term AI. When the name of a program is a human name, such as Claude, I will instead call it by the company’s name, for example, Anthropic’s app (Aa).
SoW, I asked Aa if you were friends with Ted Turner (RET3)& it reported “On Truth Social, Trump called Turner "one of the Greats of Broadcast History, & a friend of mine. Whenever I needed him, he was there, always willing to fight for a good cause!" Aa provided more info about how you were different from each other in many ways & then concluded, “they were part of the same wealthy New York/media social circles & appear to have had a genuine personal rapport, but they were far from political allies.”
I surmized from NPR’s story about RET3 that you, two, had similar attitudes. They described him as “carrying a mischievous twinkle in his eye” & provided some stories about his exploits which suggested he was quite the Playboy. I suspect he belonged to the Epstein set. I wonder how Jane Fonda could have ever married him.
SoW, please continue to reflect on why that whole scene was profoundly immoral & do more to shine a light on it so such things abate.
I could write for another hour but I’d like to get on with my day so I’ll conclude with some brief suggestions:
Please ask the FLOTUS to apologize for not mentioning the two moms who have died in the EFO so far. At next year’s Military Moms event, make sure to acknowledge the many moms that serve in our armed forces & will miss celebrating Mother’s Day at home with their families.
When you meet with President Lula of Brazil today, please keep in mind that 170 million Americans depend on his coffee crop so don’t alienate him too much.
You might want to stop attacking the Pope. It’s just making you look bad.
Pay attention to what’s going on at the ASEAN Summit. Some are encouraging them to come up with a new plan for addressing the situation in Burma & you could be a positive influence.
