My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
Happy Valentine’s Day - I feel compelled to say that, even though I am not a big fan of the holiday. My kindergarten teacher ruined it for me by putting me in the awkward position of being elected as the boys’ favorite girl. I suspect they chose me, because, unlike many of the other girls, I knew how to play with them thanks to my brother. I was often mistaken for a boy, preferring rough & tumble activity to Barbies & tea parties. So when I had to parade around the room with my male counterpart wearing a crown on my head, I was mortified! Freud might have a field day with that story. Be that as it may, I tell all educators that V-day can traumatize children, especially when the gender-conformity/heteronormative/romantic aspects are emphasized.
Speaking of awkward positions, it’s too bad that Melania made headlines by saying, “I don’t eat much sweets” when she visited children in the hospital this week. She shouldn’t get flak for setting a good example!
OoM, please make a deal to get the DHS back in business. You might want to consider the demand of the American Federation of Government Employees to let go of Kristi Noem. They say she is putting lives at risk because she has “undermined labor protections, & eroded accountability… (by removing) senior leaders within DHS & reshap(ing) the agency’s command structure to ensure adherence to Mr. Miller’s aggressive immigration strategies.”
You are lucky that 46 boosted the pay of the TSA by as much as 31% so they are more likely to stay on the job during this shutdown.
When was the last time you spoke with Adm. Daryl Caudle? He’s got ideas on how best to use the Navy’s assets so you don’t overtax the sailors or the vessels. It’s going to take the USS Gerald Ford months to get over to Iran & the folks on the boat won’t have had a break since June, 2025. Better to send a tailored force of smaller vessels than your biggest boat if you want to intimidate the ayatollah!
Even better, remember that WINTA, & don’t send any boats at all.
