Your “Contact the WH” site isn’t working well. Yesterday I tried to post about 8 letters & only 2 went through. Maybe everyone else was sending letters, too. Maybe they were up in arms about that ad campaign your group is running. Whatever the cause may be, please get it fixed so you can receive my letters.
How did the america.gov announcement at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium go? I like to imagine that you walked there or even better, rode your bike. It’s less than a mile away from the WH so you could get some exercise.
Maybe you don’t need any additional invigoration after yesterday’s announcement about the $15 billion steel plant that the Ruia’s plan to build in Iowa.
SoW, are you sure it’s going to come to fruition? I remember back in 2018 when you were excited about that Foxconn deal to build a $10 billion LCD panel plant in Mount Pleasant, WI. It was supposed to employ 13,000 people. Anthropic’s AI tells me “Foxconn kept scaling back its plans & missed the job targets that would trigger state tax credits.” Are you sure this kind of thing won’t happen with the Essar Group? Wouldn’t it be better to find a company owned by Americans to do the deal?
OoM, did you see the article in today’s G, “Three deaths, three states, 24 hours: one day in ICE’s quiet but ‘gruesome’ surge.” One of the victims of ICE’s negligence, Durán Guerrero, had authorization to work & live here. The officer who shot him “was recruited even though family members have made allegations of a history of violent behavior, including accusations of domestic violence & threats.” Please do something about this! I agree with Andrew Free, who is quoted in the article, saying, this is “indefensible.”
Regarding Burma, today’s Irrawaddy had a piece about the taxes that MAH has put on remittances. $5.6 billion comes back to families from relatives working abroad accounting for about 7% of GDP. The fees are so high that most folks use unofficial channels. If MAH stopped his war against his people, they could come home to make a living. Please see what you can do to make that happen.
