My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
I missed our letter for 3 days. Did you miss it? I’m not sure how that happened. I guess the puppies were keeping me busy. Retirement is tricky that way. While every day is unique, filled with random activities, it’s hard to recall what happened from one day to the next, since none of the activities is very consequential. It’s all good, just, not that memorable.
Anyway, the puppies went to a new foster home on Saturday, so now my spare time is my own. I miss their energy but don’t miss cleaning up after them.
OoM, I encourage you to head over to the Crane Trust Nature & Visitor Center in Wood River before you give your speech at the NE fairgrounds in Grand Island. You probably won’t spot a Whooping Crane (WC) but you’ll have a chance to learn about them. The Aransas-Wood Buffalo flock of about 550 birds usually arrives on the Platte in late October.
If you want to know more about the WCs & why the people of NE love them so much, ask Pete Ricketts. He was governor when the Platte River Recovery Implementation Program was negotiated which helped protect the WCs from extinction. They are still endangered, especially now that your new EPA interpretation is in effect.
SoW, I encourage you to reconsider that one!
Speaking of things to reconsider, lately you have been talking about how smart you are. Claims, like the one you recently made in OH, such as “I know more about everything than anybody in this room, anybody, anywhere in the world,” don’t land well with folks like me.
As I so often do, I am going to remind you that WINTA!! I feel compelled to bring that up again because you have just dispatched about 9,000 sailors & marines to the Middle East. I’m sure the loved ones of those folks are worried, as am I.
In closing, I ask that you consider getting the Ocean Observatories Initiative back in place as we face the 'Godzilla El Niño.’ Developing countries, such as Burma, are not prepared & getting some real scientific data about what’s likely to happen might motivate some action.
BYBS,
