My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
How did you feel about the speech that you just gave at Davos? Your ability to talk continuously for over an hour shows that your neurons are on rapid-fire! My ears perked up when I heard you talking about 1 Trillion trees & my eyes rolled as you claimed that the US was experiencing an economic miracle.
I’m thrilled that you are supportive of increasing the size of our forests. That’s a great starting point to improve the health of our planet. As we move in that direction, please consult with the scientists who have been studying how tree planting can ameliorate the CO2 problem. According to Ecoenclose, researchers have found that “tree planting initiatives are often complex, should not be viewed as a cure-all to climate issues, & can be disastrous when executed poorly.” Please consider a broader array of initiatives to address our climate challenges.
Regarding your remarks on economics, while the stock market is going up, my daughter would tell you that college graduates aren’t feeling it because they can’t find meaningful employment. Yesterday she said she might work at the Golden One Center as an usher at the King’s games. I know other brilliant, energetic young folks who are applying for jobs to no avail. Computer Science majors are having a particularly hard time, even those with a Stanford degree. When you tout how “hot” our economy is, our 20-somethings feel ignored.
Your lengthy narrative about Greenland helped me better understand your obsession with that part of the globe. I was intrigued by what you said about its role in WWII so I looked it up & learned that it was critical to generating intelligence regarding the weather. I was relieved to read in the BBC that you will not use force to “get” Greenland.
OoM, the news from Burma indicates that armed conflict continues with the Kachin Independence Army forcing the junta to cancel the election in two townships & parts of a third. Please remind the folks at Davos that the junta does not represent the people of Burma. No one should be making deals with them.
Finally, I must remind you of our mantra - WINTA! WAR IS NOT THE ANSWER!
BYBS,
