My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
Did you take a moment to appreciate the vibe in the UN Assembly Hall yesterday? I know you met with several folks, but I hope you also sat with the 90 heads of state, 43 heads of government, & one crown prince who were representing their countries to listen to Antonio Guterres’ (AMdOG) remarks.
The AP says AMdOG used language that was “sometimes downright undiplomatic” as he gave his bleak assessment that ““our world is in peril & paralyzed... gridlocked in colossal global dysfunction.” While that might be hard to hear, your presence would signal your awareness that the US sees itself as part of a larger whole.
SoW, I encourage you to consider your aversion to “globalism” & contemplate a non-dual approach to thinking about our world. According to Josipovic (ZJ), rather than having a binary view such as “inside vs outside, self vs other, good vs bad,” we can develop a more holistic perspective where we see everything as one. ZJ called this “nondual awareness” & found it had beneficial effects for meditators who practiced it. I encourage you to appoint a resident monk to remind you to pause & breath before making a major decision.
Speaking of Buddhists, the AP reports that the vilages on Inle Lake in Burma are celebrating their annual Phaung Daw Oo festival where a barge is powered by several boats each of which has a bunch of guys standing up with who oar strapped to their legs makes a tour of the lake. It’s quite the spectacle & quite remarkable that the people of that area have the energy to put on the event since 90% of their houses were damaged in the earthquake in March. It speaks to the resilience of the human spirit & the Buddhist conviction that it’s possible to overcome suffering by taking the Noble path which can be found through meditation.
So, let’s meditate today & find the peace within.
BYBS,
