My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
I’m in a weird time warp. It’s 9:12 PM in London so you’re at your state dinner. It’s 4:12 here at JFK & 1:12 in CA. That has me wondering if I should eat anything & if so, if it should be lunch or dinner. I’m tempted to have some coffee but that would throw me off even more. Isn’t it amazing that we can travel halfway around the world in one day? I hope my circadian rhythms adjust.
How has your unprecedented trip gone so far? Did you see your photos projected onto the Castle last night? Isn’t it amazing that 4 clever activists figured out how to do that? Do you think your friendship with Jeffrey Epstein will haunt you for the rest of your presidency?
The death of Robert Redford makes me feel old! I fell in love with him in Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid & continued to pine for him when watching The Way We Were & Out of Africa. He wasn’t just handsome. He seemed so genuine, so charming, so nice, with that twinkle in his eye that suggested mischief.
As his sex appeal waned, his allure as moral leader grew. Like you, he continued to take on projects long after most folks retire. The Presidential Award for Freedom he won in 2016 was well deserved. Thanks for speaking well of him when you were asked about his passing.
Are you familiar with Alexey Nikolayev, the Independent Russian researcher specializing in Southeast Asia? He has a unique perspective. In his recent piece in Modern Diplomacy he describes the complexity of the political situation in Burma. He is particularly concerned that the role of China is not well understood. I encourage you to consider his suggestion that you need a specialist who can provide you with a more nuanced analysis of the situation there.
BYBS,
