My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,

How were things with Bongbong yesterday? Did you get an update on your buddy, Imelda? Does she still have too many shoes?

I understand that you want Filipinos to buy Fords. Are you sure that will resolve the trade imbalance? They have 38 cars for every 1000 people compared to our rate of 860 per 1000. New Zealand’s got an even higher rate at 869 so getting them to buy American autos would be a better investment of your time.

I  wonder how folks, like my dad, feel about your penchant for tariffs. He cherished free markets & believed in the “invisible hand.”  As a loyal Republicans he might just plug his nose. I know if  he were alive today, he’d be writing you a letter to tell you to stay out of Coca-Cola’s business!

If you want to have some influence over what Americans eat, I encourage you to get busy with revising the Farm Bill rather than focus on the trivial matter of whether Coke has cane sugar or corn sugar. Sugar is sugar. It’s bad for your teeth & makes you fat!

According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, the chances of passing a new farm bill decreased tremendously with the passage of the BBB, because “the longstanding coalition of food & farm advocates that helped get previous legislation enacted—farmers, rural groups, & anti-hunger groups—is in tatters.” Some say you are working on a “skinny farm bill.” If so, please make sure it protects our soil & incentivizes farmers to diversify. Maybe subsidize amaranth or sorghum. According to Google’s AI they “thrive in drought conditions, high temperatures, & poor soil quality, making them ideal for adapting to a changing climate.”

OoM, did you hear about the junta’s drone that crashed in Thailand? It’s freaking out authorities in Mae Sot as they are worried that next time someone will be hurt. Another reminder that WINTA.

                  BYBS,
