How’s Canada? According to the Globe & Mail, the Mounties have a “special security challenge” in Kananaskis for the G7 meeting, specifically grizzly bears. Moms with cubs are particularly dangerous & you’re supposed to avoid surprising them.
If they charge you, stand your ground, make yourself look as big as possible & make as much noise as you can. DO NOT RUN AWAY! They will think you are prey.
A bear encounter would be great publicity for you, especially if she backs down, so perhaps you should try to find one.
It’s easier for me to write about bears this AM, rather than many of the other news items of the day, especially Israel’s aggression against Iran.
I am troubled by changes to VA rules which could allow doctors to refuse to treat Democrats & unmarried veterans. I hate to think that was the intention of the changes to the VA hospitals’ bylaws which list the various protected identities of patients including race, age, color, sex & religion. According to the G, several items including “national origin,” “politics” & “marital status” – have been removed from that list. Their primary goal is to strip most government protections from transgender people.
That, in & of itself, is a bad idea. Transgender folk are the bravest people in our nation. They insist to be themselves & in so doing, pose a threat to those who have not yet reconciled their female & male selves. I heard about this at Punchline last night where ALOK used humor as their catharsis. ALOK worries about the dude-bros whose constant vigilance to prove their manliness creates inner torment which they take out on people like them.
ALOK’s hypothesis aligns with Jung’s who hypothesized that every man has an unconscious feminine side to his personality which he called the “anima.” It can be a destructive or creative force depending on how the man processes it.
When the anima is suppressed, men suffer. As we saw in MN this weekend, tormented men can cause terrible harm. Perhaps it’s time to dial back the hypermasculinity & cultivate your gentler self.
OoM, please lift the travel ban on people from Burma. It’s ok to prevent the junta from coming to the US as they are terrorists. Others are not threats & should be given the benefit of the doubt.
