What’s new? Are you having second thoughts about those deals you made to share our AI secrets with the Mideastern monarchs? I read in the G that they could “proffer” some intel to “China in a geopolitical backroom deal.” Did you do something to prevent that?
Have you actively used AI? I encounter it when Googling things, but I have not touched ChatGPT even though my students use it all the time. I’ve tried some art making AIs & have found them wanting. When I asked for a scene of the Sacto River, Tower Bridge with geese & sea lions, they failed miserably. Yes, we have sea lions on the West Sac Dock, so it’s a real thing, but the AI renditions looked goofy. Engaging in this exercise helped me to spot AI generated images, so it was instructive.
AI is the latest evidence of the proposition that God is Change & as Alok reminds us, “change is necessary.” Alok suggests we should stop fearing the unknown because it is “the fertile ground to build the world we dream of.”
As you stir up change, please be mindful of the need to address wealth inequality as it sows the seeds of revolution. My grandfather witnessed that firsthand & ended up as a refugee who could never return home.
SoW, have you interacted with Bangladesh Interim Leader, Muhammad Yunus (MY)? MY also has to figure out how to help the Rohingya as he deals with the shattered economy left behind by 16 years of Sheikh Hasina’s leadership. According to the CSM she dedicated her energies to reminding her people that her dad freed them from Pakistani rule while her people dealt with floods & famine. MY has to decide whether to put her on trial for her ruthless crackdown on dissent. That would be a good idea – don’t you think?
Did you ask MbS about the Rohingya? His KSA expressed concern about them at the UN in Nov. Maybe he could send some of his riches in their direction.
