My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT, 

Did you have fun with your buddy MbS yesterday? It’s too bad ABC News’ Mary Bruce questions triggered you & your treatment of her went viral. The same thing happened after your encounter with Catherine Lucey on AF1 on Friday. To avoid looking like a bully, next time you object to a reporter’s question, just say, “that’s an inappropriate question which I will not answer.” 

Have you seen any of Ken Burn’s latest? Peter Coyote has such a soothing voice that I keep falling asleep while watching it. The overall message seems to be our country grew from incredible turmoil with people suffering on all sides. My take-away, as always is, WINTA! Watching detailed accounts of each battle is not my thing, but I’ll keep trying since everyone I know is viewing it. 

One thing I learned from the show is that the King was protecting Indian Territory from settlement by the colonists with the Appalachian Mts serving as the border. I wonder what our nation would be like if that border had held.  

Here’s a thought experiment for you – what would the world be like if it were divided into 200 countries all of equal size? According to a map I found on Vox, the US would be 10 countries. Would this geographic organization be preferable to breaking the world into units based on shared beliefs, language or customs? US citizens manage to live together despite our differences. Don’t you think other parts of the world could do the same? 

What would the lands of the Jordan Rift Valley, the Negev Desert & the mountains of Upper & Lower Galilee be like if everyone living there were considered a citizen regardless of their religion? Would the people of Burma be better off if everyone, including the Rohingya, had the same rights? I think so, but things are always more complicated than they seem. 

Gregory Bovino’s Charlotte’s Web operation has me thinking about whether it’s appropriate to be “protecting” our borders in South Carolina. The high school kids there don’t seem to think so, as hundreds of them walked out of school yesterday in protest. Some believe Mecklenburg County has been targeted because it has a Black sheriff & Charlotte has a Black mayor. Others attribute the influx of ICE agents to Iryna Zarutska’s unprovoked murder in August by a schizophrenic man. Whatever the rationale may be, many in SC are hiding which is having an adverse effect on the economy so you might reconsider this endeavor.
