My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
Choo Choo! I’m riding on the Amtrak. Our conductor, Reggie, set the tone for our ride by enthusiastically greeting each of us at the station. He encouraged us to enact the 3Gs on our ride. Generosity, gratitude & grace. He believes in spreading love to everyone he meets even those who hate him. He’s an inspiration & deserves a raise!
We are leaving Truckee & are heading up to Donner Summit. According to AI we’re chugging along at 26.88 mph because climbing 4000 feet involves twist & turns. The train is running ahead of schedule. I encourage you to do all in your power to support this organization given its excellent service!
Who is joining you for your “private dinner" tonight? Have you invited the 8 Dem Senators who decided it was time to end the budget stalemate? I continue to wonder if you offered special deals to NH & NV since all of the senators from those states voted for the deal. Judy Rosen says that the shutdown has been “gutting our tourism industry by grinding air travel to a halt,” so maybe you didn’t have to make a special deal benefitting NV to get her vote.
I read the transcript of your interview with Pat McAfee yesterday & learned a new word, specifically “Oohrah” which was repeated 17 times. Apparently, it’s been the preferred affirmation of marines since WWII. I also learned about the efforts of the federal government to figure out how to ensure economic fairness to college athletes & the various schools they attend. It’s quite the quagmire.
According to Yaman Desai writing for Texas Lawbook, “the debate has pitted institutional NCAA interests against athletes’ rights groups, created unlikely bed fellows, & tested the influence of a prominent West Texas billionaire (Cody Campbell) with the ear of the President.” I encourage you to invite Sen. Maria Cantwell to the WH to get more info about her SAFE Act. She’s especially concerned about the Big 10 & Southeastern Conferences cornering the market on college sports.
OoM, the bad news from Burma involves the town of Mogoke where desperate miners have dug up the local golf course. It’s another complicated situation not easy to disentangle. Even so, the situation in Mogoke has gone from bad to worse so please look for an opportunity to help the citizens there.
BYBS,
RCA
