JRB,

My daughter (ELD) is coming tomorrow. Her presence will invigorate our home & she can help us get ready to vacate the premises. If PG&E finds time to turn on our power, we will move to WSWC in June & our ELD will take occupancy of this house in August. We can attend to some of the delayed maintenance in the interim. I wish I could delegate managing those repairs to someone else, but, alas, I don’t have the resources that you do.

How was Saginaw yesterday? I saw a sweet photo of Hurley, “HJ”, Coleman IV shielding you from the rain with his umbrella. Fox25 reports that he was excited about the pin you gave him. Hopefully, your visit ignited some energy that will ripple through the Black community & folks in MI will be motivated to campaign for you.

What’s your thinking about USSteel? Some think the Japanese are better at running steel mills than anyone else, so they’d be happy if Nippon bought it. Given we use steel to build weapons & cars, I’d be happy to see the mills dismantled & the workers find jobs in the care industries. I know I’m dreaming, but I’d love to see us scale back.

News of the day from Burma is that they are now the world’s largest poppy growers. I can’t fault farmers for preferring to grow flowers over rice, corn or beans. Those fields are gorgeous & poppies are an easy crop. The farmers can ship their harvest at a much lower cost than other commodities & no one is enforcing whatever law they might be breaking. It’s a no brainer for them.

Thanks for taking the time to meet with sweet Harry Abramson & encouraging him to ignore the bullies who tease him about his stutter. I had to cringe when you called him handsome. Commenting on someone’s appearance is so 1970!

Have fun with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar & heed his warning that there’s "no total victory or military solution” to any conflict.

            BYBS,
