My dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

“Democracy as an ideal cannot be murdered, nor can the people’s hopes for it be extinguished by force.”

What a great sentence! Penned by the editors of the WP in their piece, “No Fake Election Can Disguise the Violence & Repression in Myanmar.” I was grateful to see them shining a light on the situation in Burma. Please do the same.

What a relief that the ideal of democracy ruled the day in WI yesterday, with Judge Janet (JJ) winning her seat on the Supreme Court. .” According to my BFF, JJ has been sick for the past 5 days so couldn’t campaign. Her friends stepped up & spoke on her behalf. According to Jennifer Rubin, her victory indicates an “informed democracy” & an “unmistakable blow to right-wing judges & politicians pushing forced-birth laws, hyper-gerrymandering, voter suppression & union-busting. “ What a triumph!

It's hard to sort through the media these days with all eyes on 45’s trip to the courthouse yesterday. As one pundit put it, “we can’t recover from this DJT infection because the media continues to feed his thirst to be everything, everywhere, all at once.” Several articles noted “the split screen” effect between the sitting POTUS (you) & your predecessor. They say, “the WH made no effort to compete for attention with the arrest of a former president… What Biden has to be is the anti-chaos president.” I appreciate your efforts in this regard.

Since you can now engage in “low-level policymaking outside the radar on issues that might otherwise create public controversy,” please get busy crafting a new Farm Bill that will fund sustainable nutrition science to address our climate & health crises using systems thinking.
