My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            How is speech prep going? The G says your “challenge on Tuesday will be to strike the right balance between optimism and realism.” I’m eager to see if you succeed.

According to CBS News at least 5 people have assembled at Camp David to help you prepare. What does that look like? Does each person have a different topic? Do you rehearse it in bits & pieces or try to run through the whole thing?

PLEASE TELL WHOEVER HAS FOREIGN AFFAIRS TO INCLUDE A SENTENCE OR TWO ABOUT BURMA.

            It’s probably best to avoid the issue of immigration. Your admin was unable to fulfill its goal of resettling 125,000 refugees in 2021/2022. The border is a mess. Dreamers still dream. Busloads of asylum seekers are being dumped in front of KDH’s house. It’s all complicated.

Perhaps you can just emphasize the Christian idea of radical hospitality & remind us to love our neighbor & welcome newcomers, whatever their place of birth, melanin level, language & religious practices may be.

            In the speculations in my newspapers about the contents of your speech, I did not see anything about climate change. Please make sure to address that issue. I would love to see you pledge to cut down on flying. You could promise to cut your number of hours in the air in half & invite frequent flyers to do the same. In 2021 employed adults in the US took 4.2 flights/year on average. If we brought that down to 2.1 we could make a big difference.

            Don’t forget to get outside & enjoy the beautiful weather!
