My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
How is the jet setting going? LA to DC to Philly, that’s a lot of city hopping in a couple of days. It’s also a huge carbon footprint. Please take that into consideration as you plan your campaign. Be loud & proud about cutting back on a few trips to save the planet. That would set a great example.
I will be going to Philly for a conference in April. I have never been & am looking forward to seeing the city of “Brotherly Love.” I’d prefer they call it, “Friendly City” to pay homage to its Quaker roots without a gender component. I hope to attend Meeting for Worship while I’m there, perhaps with my Friends in Media who attend Zoom worship with the Yangon group each week. Do you have suggestions for other places to see?
I’m sure Philly folks will be grateful to hear about the FEMA program you are announcing today to reopen fire stations. According to the PI, you will pay tribute to the 12 people who died in a Fairmount fire last year which could have been put out faster if Ladder 1 had not been decommissioned in 2008. I am confused about how the federal government is getting involved in local matters, but perhaps it’s necessary in this land where the rich are not taxed enough to ensure the safety of their neighbors.
Have you heard that China is being credited with convening the junta & the EAO in Northern Burma? It’s unclear what they discussed, but the junta says it anticipates another meeting at the end of Dec. Please look into this & express your support for a democratic solution there.
Speaking of democracy, please help me understand how a religion-based government can be democratic? How does the minority have a voice in that situation? Am I missing something?
I need to get going so I can prepare to participate in our interviews of candidates for a math educator to join our faculty. We have excellent applicants so I am confident that upon my upcoming retirement math education will continue at UCD.
