My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            I have to leave the house early this morning to join my friend for a walk in Sacramento. She’s a former student who I haven’t seen in a long time, so I am looking forward to it. It’s a beautiful day and the roses in the Peace Garden will just be starting to bloom. Speaking of which, how are the cherry blossoms coming along this year?

            I understand that you will be having your first press conference today & your staff is nervous about it since you are a self-professed “gaffe machine.” The WP used the word, “garrulous” to describe you, which means “tiresomely talkative.” I had to look that up. Since, I, myself, tend to be quiet, I don’t have any advice on how to control your tendency to ramble. I find it remarkable that a man who was once a stutterer has so much to say.

            I hope that the reporters ask you about Myanmar, & that you will say that you are keeping close tabs on the situation & have hope that military defections will cause the generals to relent. Perhaps you will also talk about the Rohingya & efforts to provide them with refugee status in the US since their camp in Bangladesh is no longer safe.
