My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

I understand that they have a Bell of Hope at the radiology oncology treatment center at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital that you visited yesterday. Did you know that a Rear Admiral from the Navy started that bell tradition? He brought a brass bell to ring to celebrate his last chemo treatment for his head & neck cancer at the U of TX-MD Anderson Cancer Center in 1996. The practice caught on. I think we could all use a Bell of Hope these days to ring at the end of the day to remind us to keep our eyes on the prize.

I’m thrilled that you will be commemorating Equal Pay day with Margaret Purce(MP) & Megan Rapinoe(MR) at the WH today. As Lindsay Crouse (LC) suggested in today’s NYT, we still have a long way to go. LC does a brilliant job of pointing out the hypocrisy of the folks who are sponsoring laws against transgender athletes participating in women’s sports by noting, “Invading women’s sports for a competitive advantage. Competing for what? Crumbs.”

I’m sure MP & MR will bring up the awful job that the NCAA has done in organizing the women’s basketball tournament this year. I hope that U of South Carolina wins, so you can invite the team & their coach Dawn Staley to join you. They attract the biggest crowds in the state. She calls the fans the “G-Hive.” She’ll give you the lowdown & she won’t hold back.

Did you hear that the Burmese police killed an 8-year-old girl in her home? Today the people have organized a “Silent Strike” where everyone is staying in their homes. They characterize it as “the loudest scream.” Please give them a shout out to show you care.

            BYBS,
