MDF&P, JRB,

I see that you “delivered remarks” at the holiday celebration last night. From a photo of the event, it looks like you embarrassed your wife. As you know I am not a big fan of your “I am Jill’s husband” schtick & your bragging about how you can’t cook yourself an egg. You are reenforcing gender stereotypes that most of the younger generation can’t relate to. Since some folk, like Bret Stevens writing in the NYT today, wonder if someone should hold office at your advanced age, you might want to stop joking around about who wears the pants in the family. It’s so 1975.

I appreciate your drawing attention to Sandy Hook today & the need for gun control laws. It troubles me that something so lethal can be purchased so casually. I also worry that the number of guns in the USA exceeds the number of people. I am not aware that any of my acquaintances owns a gun, which means that those who do, have several.

The most striking news of the day is a photo of dead giraffes from Kenya. They got stuck in the mud & were too weak to get out. Kenya is having a terrible draught with 2.1 million people at risk of starvation. CC is partially responsible. Please make some noise about that!

You can do so while on you tour of Dawson Springs & Mayfield in KY today. As you recently noted, while the tornadoes were caused by a weird weather pattern, the situation was exacerbated by the amount of energy in the atmosphere.

CC is REAL & we need to do something about it. I don’t think the folk in KY will argue with you about that. Those poor folks are facing another massive storm system in a couple of days that might spark tornadoes in IA, MN & WI. We’ll keep our fingers crossed it doesn’t.

I was happy to hear that Sec. State Blinken is exploring additional actions against the Tatmadaw. It’s too bad that he had to cut his SE Asia trip short. I’m surprised that a journalist came down with CV, but I guess none of us are immune, even when we’ve been vaxed & boosted.

BYBS,
