DJT,

At 5:30, my agitation overwhelmed me & I rousted my canine friend out of bed. I am in a state & I assume you are, too. My BFF & I wonder if 1/6/20 will be one of those days that gets burned in everyone’s brains. I’m sure it will be burned in yours.

When I try to wrap my head around what just happened, I find myself contemplating whether the folks who stormed the Capitol were engaged in civil disobedience (CD). I’m stuck on that because as a Quaker, I fully support Friends who choose to risk arrest to take a stand. My Google search turned up an entry in the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy that asks the question, “what makes a breach of law an act of CD?” & specifies communication, conscientiousness & non-violence as features of CD.

Your fans in the Rotunda yesterday were clearly trying to show the world their moral outrage. I assume they were ready to be arrested (& continue to wonder why they weren’t). Clearly, they were NOT being peaceful. They also did not coordinate their activities or provide fair notice to legal authorities. So according to my moral calculus what we saw fits the definition of “terrorisation,” which includes “brutal strategies of coercion & intimidation rather than persuasion & moral appeal.” Given that analysis, I have to agree with most of my newspapers which called your fans, “a mob.”

I encourage you to save yourself some embarrassment & resign. Even your BFF, LOG says, “It’s over.” If you cut your term short by 13 days, we could all rest easier & not worry that VPP or KJU is going to take advantage of the situation.

My BFF & I speculated about the 25th. When I looked at your cabinet, I could count some folks who might go for it, with Elaine Chao, being at the top of the list. I’m sure she & AMM have conferred on that matter. The 2 MRPs might be inclined & given STM’s challenges with the stimulus bill, he might be on board, too.

As you can see, my faith is being tested, so I request again, “Let us see what Love can do.”
