My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,

It’s our commencement day – a time to celebrate the end of a chapter in our lives and the time to commemorate the start of a new one. I am writing this during the last hour of your presidency as you are arriving in your new home. Like all commencements, this one is bittersweet, combining feelings of apprehension as well as exultation.  I’m not sure how I will adjust my daily practice so I can continue to practice Satyagraha every day. Will I write letters? Who will I address them to? Only tomorrow will tell.

As you might recall I started writing these letters to you because I wanted to get over my fear of you. I was afraid you would start a war with the “Rocket Man” that you seemed to take such pleasure in mocking. That fear diminished over time, but even up to these last days I worried that you might start something with Iran. I am grateful that you refrained from doing so. So, I applaud your accomplishment of avoiding military conflict abroad.

I agree the assessment you provided in your speech that “the greatest danger we face is a loss of confidence in ourselves,” & your observation that “we are only as vibrant as the faith that beats in the hearts of our people.” I’m afraid that your tweets & rallies eroded the faith that your fans have in our electoral process. I hope you will make an effort to restore that faith. I encourage you to take greater care to avoid exaggeration & fabrication so that you will be allowed to participate in public discourse in the future.

I understand that you left a note in the Resolute desk for JRB. I’m sure that you reiterated the same best wishes that you expressed in your remarks on the tarmac today & expressed your belief that “the best is yet to come.” I hope you are correct.

            BYBS,
