Friend DJT,

It’s the 2nd Sunday of the month so I have a Meeting for Worship on the Occasion of Business where I will dutifully take notes as the recording clerk as our committees report on their meetings. Quakers are keen on process to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard & the will of the higher power will be done. It can be tedious at times, but in the end it’s worth the effort.

We will also have a Meeting for Worship & I am sure many hearts & minds will be with our Nation at this most vulnerable time. I suspect that Friends will find it hard to open their spirits & leave behind anger, anxiety & angst. These sentiments keep us in the reptilian part of our brains where fearful thoughts ignite the production of adrenaline & cortisol creating that agitated fight or flight sensation. Silent worship forces us to counteract these impulses & if we breathe deeply & close our eyes, looking deeply within for our souls, the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis calms down, so our ventromedial prefrontal cortex can be activated. If we are lucky, we might experience euphoria, but more often we experience serenity. I hope I get there today.

I am sure you could use some serenity. Perhaps an apology to MRP would help you achieve it. According to my sources you haven’t spoken with him since Wednesday when you went off on him in your speech to your fans. You said his name 15 times, where you talked about him “doing the right thing.” I hope you now realize that he did do the right thing & you were the misguided one.

Your exhortation to your fans to “walk down Penn. Ave to give them (Congress) pride & boldness” turned out to be a really bad idea. Your fans, amped up on cortisol & adrenaline, were not thinking straight & I’m sure you regret giving them such bad advice.

I know people all over the country will be praying today. I hope you join us.

BYBS,
