Friend, DJT,

Times they are a changin’. I wonder if Bob Dylan is penning a new song to capture the essence of THIS moment in time. Perhaps Tracy Chapman is giving it a try. Last night I heard a podcast about Bernice Johnson Reagon who founded the “Freedom Singers” & knew just the right song to lift the spirits of crowds at Civil Rights protests in the ‘60s. I think that would help now, don’t you?

Did you read about the disturbance in Madison, WI, last night? A group of protestors took down “Forward,” an iconic statue representing the progressive politics of WI. They also took down a statue of a Civil War hero that I’ve never heard of. They were upset that a protestor had been arrested earlier in the day for harassing people at a restaurant. The protestors say that the state & local officials are not listening. I’m not convinced that tearing down a beloved statue at the center of the city is helping the cause.

It’s easy to get mixed up these days. I know that you & your administration are somewhat confused about whether CV testing is a good idea. You’ll be happy to know that my daughter received a negative test last week. She got tested because we thought it would be helpful to know if she contracted CV while traveling. She crossed paths with a couple of hundred people, mostly in the TSA line, so her chances of picking it up were high. Not as high as the kids who went to your rally yesterday, but higher than mine. I encounter maybe 8 people each day & always keep my distance. I am doing my part in keeping our CV #s down. I hope you will, too.

It’s too bad that GOP Rep Walter Blackman (WB) went on a tirade about George Floyd’s prior challenges with the law. WB had done some great work on sentence reform for non-violent offenders & vilifying GF offended all of his allies. I think he got his inspiration from Candace Owens. She’s been making her share of bad choices, too. Clearly, we are all off kilter. I hope we find our footing soon.

            HYITL,
