Friend DJT,

It’s going to be 99 here today with plenty of bright sunshine so everybody is out in the cool of the morning. It looks like it’s overcast in DC, reflecting the mood of the nation. We are living under a cloud of grief & doubt. I just talked to my neighbor about the situation & she said she’d lost faith in the people. I’m afraid maybe you have, too. You seem to think that you can somehow subdue the angst of the younger generation with a show of force. I think that’ll just fan the flames.

Perhaps your visit to the Saint John Paul II Shrine (SJP2) will restore your conviction in serving us all by uniting us. SJP2 was all about that. He transcended political differences to affirm the importance of human freedom and dignity. The folks at the shrine can tell you all about him & perhaps suggest some Bible verses to you that would help you to understand Jesus’ message to love your enemy.

Speaking of Bibles, what was up with that photo of you in front of the Episcopal church yesterday? I’m afraid that gesture turned out all wrong. I’m sure you had no idea that several clergy people were at the church to provide "peaceful presence in support of protestors." They had medical supplies & food. Your guys chased them away with tear gas so you could have your photo taken. So now instead of looking like a pious gentleman, you look like a thug. Next time come prepared to say a prayer & avoid belligerent language. Spiritual folk work hard to promote love, forgiveness & turning the other cheek. If you want to identify as a church person, you might try doing the same.

            Peace be with you,
