My dear DJT,

It’s my sister’s birthday. You would like her. She takes after my dad, always smiling and reaching out to people. Her daughters call her Pastor Julie for her leadership at Kings Grant Pres. Church. We’re all lucky that she arrived on the planet 63 years ago.

Thanks for your efforts to help the Native Americans. I have always felt guilty that they have been treated so badly for so long. I took a couple of classes at Dartmouth to better understand their challenges & only scratched the surface in getting a handle on their history & contemporary experiences. There are so many different tribes. Each has its own governance system & treaty with the USA. I learned to be careful about generalizing across tribes & I encourage you to exercise caution as well.

I appreciate your proclamation of “Missing and Murdered American Indians and Alaska Native Awareness Day.” I got a glimpse into that issue from reading Lousie Erdrich’s novels. She tells the story of individuals like Ashleyy Mike, who you might remember from Dottie Lizer’s remarks yesterday. She was 11 when she disappeared 4 years ago and it took officials 8 hours to issue an Amber alert because they couldn’t figure out the jurisdiction. I’m sure you’ve heard that’s a huge problem for the Navajo Nation which stretches across several states. Do you have a plan for resolving that?

I guess my letter didn’t get to you in time yesterday as I noticed that you didn’t wear a mask at the Honeywell plant and used war rhetoric at your round table. I suspect that you heard Navajo President Jonathan Nez calling his people “warriors” for abiding by the weekend curfew and decided to emulate him. Well I don’t like being called a “warrior” and prefer to be called a “teammate.”

I suggest you keep your CV task force in place. Opening America is going to bring on more CV cases so we need to be prepared. We need a lot more diagnostic tests & your team could help with that.

                  HYITL,

            RCA
