My Dear Friend and POTUS, DJT,

Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s too bad that it’s going to be raining for your trip down to Mar-a-Lago this weekend. Perhaps you and Melania can sit by a warm fire whispering sweet nothings. I’m afraid the closest I come to sweet nothings with my valentine is “love very much.” We tend toward the pragmatic rather than the romantic. How about you?

            I doubt there will be talk of Valentine’s Day when you meet up with National Border Patrol Council Pres. Brandon Judd and his gang at the WH today. Isn’t it odd that the Pres. Of the border patrol union is from Montana? I’m not sure he understands what his rank & file on the southern border have to put up with. Apparently, many agents there are suffering from exhaustion, mental health problems and suicidal thoughts. I think you, two, need to come up with a better plan to hire more agents since the $60 million contract with Accenture to hire 1000 agents only yielded 51. I encourage you to rethink some of your border policies so our agents don’t have to do things that make them sick.

            Did you see the Guardian article about your obsession with badgers? It says that a new book about you reports, “Trump would frequently derail important policy discussions with questions about the animals.” Being a Wisco fan, I share your fascination. Even though I’ve spent every year of my life in the woods of WI, I’ve never seen one in the wild. Turns out they hunt in the dark so I’ll need to get myself some night vision goggles to catch a glimpse.

            Final question, is this tension between you and WPB staged? Whether or not it is, I’m happy that he is standing his ground and helping you understand the limits to Presidential power.
