My dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,

How exciting that you will be in South Central WI today! It’s too bad that it’s going to be rainy & chilly & it’s a CV hotspot. I’m sure your most rabid fans will come anyway. Some of them may be off in the farm fields hunting pheasant. It’s the start of the season & hunters relish bad weather. It makes them feel tough.

I encourage you to speak with some of those hunters about the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) that your administration curtailed. It incentivizes farmers to protest pheasant habitat. The birds like tall grassy cover for nesting. Beefing up the CRP would appeal to the farmers, hunters & environmentalists. Not only is it a smart thing to do, you might get a few more votes out of it.

While you are in Janesville, I encourage you to go downtown to the Rock River to take a look at the new pedestrian bridge that opened yesterday. You’ll be there at just the right time to see the light display. It’s part of the revitalization project & looks great!

You could then spend your rally making positive remarks rather than the kind of regrettable statements reported in today’s news. Don’t you think that attacking Susan Collins on Twitter will repel some of her voters? Your plea, “Suburban women, like me please, I saved your neighborhood.” Sounds kind of desperate. These statements are making folks like Sen. Ben Sasse warn about a “Blue Tsunami.” It’s time to change the rhetoric, don’t you think?

Thanks for changing you mind about declaring the Creek Fire a “Major Disaster.” Please recall that half of the forest that is burning in CA belongs to the federal government, so if, indeed, it is negligent timber management that is responsible for the infernos, then it’s your responsibility to fix that. I sure would appreciate it.

            Safe travels,

            HYITL,
