It's 5:37 AM, still dark outside. I've been up for an hour. My sleep cycle is messed up. It could be that I had too much caffeine yesterday or that I got preoccupied by plumbing problems or it could just be the moon. Today it's a waning gibbous which can create a feeling of uncertainty. Whatever it is, here I am starting my day.
You're in for a busy day!!! A ceremony for Mariano Rivera, a meeting with Bahrain's Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa (SBHAK) and a rally in Rio Rancho, NM. WOW!
When you spend the hour with SBHAK please help him understand that protesters are not terrorists and should not be thrown in jail and stripped of their citizenship. He's being particularly mean to Hajer Mansoor Hassan who is locked up because her son is a rabble rouser living in the UK. She's been in jail for 3 years and found a lump in her breast recently but has not gotten medical care. Don't you think that's inhumane? I hope you'll ask SBHAK to set her free so she can get help.
This GM strike is fascinating, don't you think? Corruption among the UAW leaders, high profits for the shareholders, diminishing demand for gas powered vehicles, Mary Barra's $21.87 million salary which is 281 times what the median employee earns. I'm not sure GM should keep operating plants making cars that no one wants to buy. The workers took the brunt of the 2008 crisis. So much to consider. I hope they are able to do as you suggested and "get together and make a deal." Easier said than done.
Be sure to ask the Sandman about Refugio de Esperanza, the church in New Rochelle that he and his wife restored. It seems she's as good at preaching as he is at pitching. Perhaps you can make a special trip to the Refugio next week. The ministry might be in Spanish but you'll get the gist.
