My dear Friend and president, DJT,

How was your golf game with LOG yesterday? Did he help you understand why it's a bad idea to accept "dirt" from a foreign agent? He's worried that foreign influence is growing and no one should be taking meetings with representatives of foreign governments. I hope you'll keep that in mind.

Today I have to go to the doctor for a physical so this will be short. I have two suggestions for you.

            1) Be careful about taking too much "executive privilege." Neal K. Katyalopines in today's NYT that trying to hide too many things is " something a king would do." He says that Nixon looked "profligate and personal in his use of the privilege, (and) he cried wolf too many times." By the way, profligate is my new word for the day and means "recklessly extravagant or wasteful in the use of resources."  If you want to avoid the fate of 37, best to stop claiming "executive privilege."

            2) Do not listen to Sen. Tom Cotton (TBC) regarding Iran. You do not want a quagmire on your hands. Your peers served in one of those in the 60s and 70s and you know how that ended. I will repeat the Quaker mantra, "WAR IS NOT THE ANSWER." Maybe I'll send you a paperweight with that painted on it so you can keep it on the Resolute Desk to show JRB when he gets overly zealous. Do you even have papers in the Oval Office or is everything electronic these days?

Ok - that's all for today. Give my regards to MRP at lunch today.

            Best,

            RCA

PS - I'm sorry that I was just not in the mood to watch your 20/20 special last night. I was more in the mood for "Call the Midwife."
