My dear Friend and President, DJT,

I’m getting an early start writing this letter while it’s still dark. Tis the season for darkness which is why people make up celebrations to cheer us up lest we brood and fret and otherwise get overwhelmed by the darkness. We’ve got Christmas, Hannukah and Diwali, all to lift our spirits and remind us that before we know it, the days will get longer again. Hope springs eternal.

Are you feeling hopeful? Mick Mulvaney should help you stay positive. I’m sure he’ll be a cheerful presence around the Oval Office. He seems to have a great sense of humor and an odd kind of humility. I love that he calls himself a “nut-job.” He’s a penny pincher like I am so I’m happy that he’ll be around to curb your lavish spending habit. I am a bit worried that he’d like to eliminate Social Security. As you know I think cutting back on military investments would be the preferred approach. He’s into tea parties so he’ll be especially helpful when Teresa May comes to visit once she gets Brexit worked out.

Are you having a Congressional Ball tonight? If so, I look forward to seeing what Melania wears.

It was great to see Barron so happy in a photo of Wayne Rooney at one of your many Christmas parties. I had never heard of Wayne until this morning when I found out he is the best soccer player England has seen in years. Right now, he’s in Saudia Arabia at the Riyadh Formula E event. The guy is a brilliant promoter, don’t you think?

Are you planning to see the new movie, On the Basis of Sex, about Ruth Bader Ginsburg? It’s opening on Christmas Day. I can’t wait.

Have a great day,
