My dear Friend and President, DJT,

The geese are honking overhead letting us all know how happy they are that it is so wet here. Children have been inspired to join the chorus so we have a symphony of sounds to start our day in Village Homes. How will you be enjoying the beauty of the Earth today?

How was your trip? I'm sorry that you didn't get a chance to follow the advice of the editors at the McAllen Monitor and talk with more people who are affected by the Wall plans.

Maybe you are already aware of the various concerns about your plans, but in case you aren't here are a couple that I've read about. Mayor Yvette Cabrera, of Granjeno cautioned against a one-size-fits-all solution to border problems because, "everyone is different." Mayor Armando O’Caña, from Mission, TX, & The Diocese of Brownsvilleworry about La Lomita Chapel, established in 1849. The Wall is supposed to go right next to it and will upset their Palm Sunday processional. Folks in Houston fear that your plan to use Army Corps of Engineers $$ will take away the $3.96 billion set aside for a coastal barrier to prevent the next hurricane from being so devastating. You might want to call these folks and do a bit more fact finding before you proceed. I suggest you heed the words of the WSJ editors when they say, "an emergency declaration would further poison prospects for immigration reform. A political spending fight over the wall doesn’t warrant a national-emergency raid on military funds."

I encourage you to consider sharing your wealth with all of the federal workers who are selling their possessions to make up for their lost paychecks. According to the WP, many of them are putting stuff on eBay. You could have one of your staffers spend the day bidding up the price and buying things using your personal fortune. Surely you have some spare cash to help them through this. It would be a nice gesture.

Take care,
