..My read of Roger Cohen is that he believes war is inevitable, that there are good guys & bad guys & military spending is the answer. I have had enough of that mentality & am sorry that the NYT put his article at the top of their webpage….
…That got me worried about the media in our country. Mehdi Hasan says the American right has become a “cancel culture brigade” who ban books, prevent the teaching of history & purge the GOP of moderates….
…I admire your courage in pulling off a visit that is “unprecedented in modern times” as the first time a US president had visited “the capital of the country at war where the United States military does not control the critical infrastructure”. Were you on pins & needles during the 10-hour train trip?…
…I was happy to read that LILDS has hesitated to sell weapons to Ukraine & believes “you need to have partners able to build a group of negotiators with credibility on both sides who can end the war.” That’s true of the Ukranain war & the Burmese crisis.
As I think about addressing those challenges, I am reminded of Prof Elise Boulding of Dartmouth College.
