My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

“Reach Out with Open Hearts and Helping Hands this Valentine’s Day!” What a nice sentiment to share with WH visitors! Jill truly has a sweetheart & we are so lucky to have her as our FLOTUS.

            Speaking of women in the WH, I’m sure you heard that Niki Haley has announced that she is running for POTUS. While her #s don’t look too good right now, she might develop some momentum. She’s great at the sound bite. Among those quoted in today’s WP, “I don’t put up with bullies, & when you kick back, it hurts them more if you’re wearing heels,” & “I was a Brown girl in a Black & White world. We faced discrimination and hardship, but my parents never gave in to grievance and hate,” were my favorites. She says “it’s time for a new generation of leadership.” We’ll see.

            I was troubled to read in the CSM that Lloyd Austin thinks we will be at war with China in a couple of years. Please avoid creating a “spiral of hostility” that could lead to a “downright dangerous, use-it-or-lose-it” situation when it comes to Beijing’s nuclear arsenal. The results of the recent war game conducted “by the Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS) where the U.S. won, but with losses that ‘would damage the U.S. global position for many years,” and we ended up with lots of prisoners of war, show that WINTA!!!

            I think you need to read that again, WINTA! You need to take that to heart & stop selling arms. Your recent transaction with India will not promote peace.

            The more weapons there are, the easier it is for violence to break out. That’s why I was troubled to see that in Burma civilians deemed as “loyal to the state” can carry weapons & if they do, must comply when ordered by local authorities to take part in “security, law enforcement, and stability.” Ugh!
